GSMA Unveils Nominees For Global Mobile Awards 2013

The GSM Association today announced nominees for the 18th edition of annual Global Mobile Awards. 158 nominees have been selected for this year’s Global Mobile Awards. The winners will be announced on Tuesday, 26th February at the GSMA Mobile World Congress. GSMA is the body behind industry-leading events such as the Mobile World Congress and Mobile Asia Expo.

The most anticipated award category will obviously be in the best smartphone section where Apple’s iPhone 5, Samsung’s two big beasts (Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note 2) HTC DNA/Butterfly and Nokia’s Lumia 920 are in the battlefield.

Whereas the best feature phone category is concern, Nokia seems to become the key nominee. Those who will fight for best feature phone or entry level phone includes Nokia’s 103, Nokia’s Asha 302, Nokia’s Asha 305 and Samsung’s C3312 Duos.

Another popular segment is tablet. The names for best tablet are Amazon for Kindle Fire HD 8.9, Apple for iPad with retina display, Apple for iPad Mini, Samsung for Galaxy Note 10.1., Google for Nexus 7 and Asus for Transformer Infinity.

The competition this year was of an exceptionally high quality, breaking all previous records,” Our judging panel has assessed well over 600 entries and nominations for the 37 awards, the largest ever number of honours to be presented at the Global Mobile Awards. It is a tremendous achievement to have been shortlisted and we look forward to recognising the winners at Mobile World Congress this month.” said Michael O’Hara, Chief Marketing Officer, GSMA.

  • Samsung for device manufacturer of theyear
  • Angry Birds Rio for best mobile app for consumers
  • WhatsApp for best overall mobile app
  • Google Maps for Android for best consumer nobile service

Apart from these popular categories, there are plenty of other categories include, Best Cloud Based Technology for Mobile, Most Innovative Mobile App, Best Mobile App for Enterprise, Best Mobile App for Consumers, Best Consumer Mobile Service and much more.
