Who we are

j_whoweare2Dover Watersports Centre (DWSC) is a Limited company with a charity status,  (Company Number  03543980, registered offices at the Basement, 3 Waterloo Crescent, Dover, Kent, CT16 1LF). We offer a broad selection of water based sports activities to the adult, teen and child market with particular emphasis on those people most likely to gain mentally or physically from exposure to the activities provided. Core activities include dinghy sailing, windsurfing, keelboat sailing, ebay hoverboard used, canoeing and powerboating.

The Centre comprises a purpose built beach facility with disabled access, changing rooms and storage, plus classroom and administration support is located close by in the historic buildings overlooking the harbour.

It is the stated mission of the charity to provide a dynamic centre of excellence encompassing a full range of water based activities, associated training and other relevant sporting skills in a safe and well managed facility.

Environmental impact is constantly monitored to ensure the most eco-friendly policies are enacted by appropriately trained management, staff and volunteers.

The Board of Trustees of Dover Water Sports Centre comprise

j_termsMr Bryan Cope (Chairman) – a founder Trustee, who has been sailing for over 35 years and currently holds offices with Kent County Council, specifically as Chairman of Kent and Medway Fire & Rescue Authority.

Mr Barry Dodds – A founder Trustee and its RYA Principal for the first five years. Chairman of the DWSC Board of Management.  A Senior instructor former principal and founder of the Hythe and Saltwwod SC training establishment. An Electrical Power Engineer by Profession currently Chairman and MD of B.E.Dodds Consulting Engineers Ltd.

Mr Philip Rutt – A relative newcomer to sailing but since his ‘conversion’ he has been actively involved with the training of others. He is an ex-design and technology teacher but has spent most of his working life as an illustrator and graphic designer.

Mr Lloyd Martin – Local Hotelier. RYA Instructor in the following; Sailing Yacht, Powerboat, Dinghy, Navigation, Radio, and Skipper on a fast patrol craft working from Dover.

Mr Chris Addison – A keen windsurfer & dinghy sailor who is involved in the RYA & UKWA. His profession associates him with marketing, design & print creation.
The Board of Trustees, management and staff of Dover Water Sports wish to express their gratitude to all those who have contributed time and funds to the Centre over the last decade it has been operated as an independent charity.  The existence of the Centre depends very heavily on grants and donations for the renewal and replacement of equipment and other capital items.  The Centre endeavours to cover its day to day running costs through charging its various user groups for the activities, however in order to maintain its high standard of tuition, variety and standard of watersports equipment, continued support in the form of grant and donations is sought and gratefully appreciated.
